Signimalz Presents at Early Learning Coalition of Lake County "Uniting for Children" Conference (April 1, 2017)
We had a wonderful time meeting great people and being a part of the fun at the Early Learning Coalition of Lake County's Uniting for Children Conference at the Lake-Sumter Leesburg campus this past Saturday. Marni also had the honor of being a presenter! She discussed how to incorporate sign language into early literacy and language lessons to a group of very enthusiastic teachers.
We are beyond excited to have been accepted as a vendor at the FEDHH - Florida Educators of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Conference. It will be held in Daytona on November 4-5. We can't wait to share our FUN sign language resources with more amazing teachers (and families). Please share this conference with anyone who might be interested in attending. We are looking forward to learning more and meeting everyone too! www.facebook.com/signimalz

We had an amazing time watching the Signing Shadows interpreted performance of Beauty and the Beast. Special thanks to Mandy Longo for inviting us!
We had the honor of being invited to share the writing/illustration/collaboration process with an amazing group of 2nd graders last week. The kids had such thoughtful questions and were SO excited to show us their own stories that they have been working on all year! Thank you Mrs. Goring for sharing your amazing class with us.
Here is a note from their teacher ... "Friday brought a whole new aspect to our authors study as we got to visit with the illustrator of Signimalz LLC.Dave Martinez showed us how he begins with a mess and ends with a very personified Signamal. He told us illustrating was not neat or perfect, he said it is a process he had to practice. He let my kids know it was ok to try, try, and try again. I know this really sank in to some of my boys who have shown great interest in drawing illustrations for the books they have written. Thank you, Mr. Dave for not only talking with my class, but listening to them too. You really made their day."

A couple of weeks ago Marni and I had the opportunity to share Signimalz with the special DHH students and teachers who were the inspiration for these resources! Marni read the new Signimalz Count to Ten book with the kids and I showed them my process of illustrating animals and emotions too.
It was definitely an enlightening experience seeing how the kids responded to my art and the joy it brought them to see their suggestions come to life. In that way, Signimalz is no different; these amazing kids want cartoon characters that speak their language and bridge the communication gap to the rest of the world.
Afterwards, I was presented with thank you letters from all the kids. It was an awesome day.
